The Last DJ

Written by Scott Wright & Susie Hatton

It’s a Rock & Roll love triangle - loosely based on real people and events, and written by the people who lived it.

Hollywood, 1989 - the peak of the Glam-metal rock era, Peak MTV, and the peak of the power of rock radio in popular culture. DJs were still minor celebrities, and new stars were minted daily via MTV videos.

The record business was at its zenith in terms of sales and profits, and also at its sleaziest and most corrupt. As always, the magnetic pull of LA attracted the talented, the wannabes and the scam artists. Among the artists and the dealers and the hangers-on were our heroes - some in it for stardom, some for the money, and some on that quenchless search for love.

Paris in the 20s

Written by Scott Paul Wright

Inspired by François Truffaut’s timeless classic Jules & Jim, it’s a modern story of three 20-somethings tangled up in a very messy threesome - a “Throuple” - and an impossible love, in a distinctly Gen-Z fashion. Dating-App culture, Social Media, “Brands” and luxury goods are as much a part of the story as the main characters themselves.

Set amid the intoxicating world of fashion and luxury in today’s Paris, everyone is living their version of “the Dream” - but it’s a dream that conceals their fears, buried traumas, existential lies, and a dirty secret that could ultimately undo them all.

Each of the three main characters has let themselves be seduced by the glamour and the bling, and they’re mostly able to keep their blinders on when the cracks in the facade start to show. Underneath, there’s a steady current of insecurity and doubt - but a chance at love keeps them tethered to whatever it is they believe in.
